Friday 17th and Saturday 18th March was our Spring Exhibition at Oddfellows. The weeks of planning and preparation resulted in an excellent exhibition, with around 20% of all paintings sold! This has just demonstrated that we are now back on track after a lean few years due to Covid.

Graham Lee, one of our current members, was today's model. The model session was well attended with the usual variety of media being used- including pencil, pastel and watercolour. Today's Inside/Outside session focused on seascapes. After a few minor technical issues, we were able to watch a very soothing presentation on painting waves- no dialogue , just images of the stages performed to calming music. Today Shane made one of his regular visits to Littleworth. He began todays session with a quick watercolour landscape. Using a small photograph as a reference, Shane planned out his scene - using low tac tape on the paper to provide a guideline for the horizon. Mixing and blending colours, the sky was added with a few lightbeams lifted...

On Tuesday 7th February, Stuart demonstrated how we can create accurate and realistic pictures, by using perspective. Not all art wants or needs this accuracy- we only have to look at Egyptian art to see this. But if you want to create pictures where images reflect what the eye sees- then perspective is a wonderful tool.

In the chill of January, we were able to take part in drawing and painting a landscape without having to suffer the weather!
