25th August- Burslem.

26/08/2026

The distinctive landmark of Price and Kensington Pottery in Burslem was our venue for todays sketch and paint. It is a well known piece of the Potteries skyline, still standing proudly on Canal Street. The charm of these historic buildings, even when showing obvious decline, is always appealing to artists.

A small group of us gathered on the towpath, holding down paper in the very strong breeze, to capture the atmosphere of this amazing building. The Potteries, although in much need of regeneration in many parts, echoes the strong art base of its ceramic industry . This historic area was a joy to visit. Many thanks to David Benbow for arranging our summer sketching venues.
