Arthur Berry- A presentation by Keith Potts.

Tuesday 6th October Keith Potts delivered another brilliant presentation on local legend, Arthur Berry. Love him or hate him, Arthur Berry demands a strong response. Keith shared stories of Arthur's life, from his humble beginnings in Burslem , on to the fame and recognition he has today. He was not only an artist but also wrote several books and many poems. A man of many facets!

His painting techniques were often very expressive, using bold lines, vivid colour or the darkest of darks. He applied the mediums aggressively- scraping and scratching through paint or charcoal to create his dynamic pieces. He felt this showed best the harshness and grit of the Potteries. 

We were invited to copy one of his more colourful pieces of 'Nile Street'- and you can see how his style has influenced how members made their representations.
