Hi everyone, thank you so much for stopping by to have a look at my art work .
I retired from a long career in health and social care in 2015 where I was responsible for managing a programme of activities and interventions to support people who were recovering from a period of mental illness, many of these activities included the arts and creativity
I am a mum to two gorgeous girls who make me very proud and grandma to 4 who keep me busy when I'm not in my little room painting.
I have always loved Art and anything that allowed me to be creative. I have no formal training, except one art O' level and my claim fame was winning The Thompson cup for Art in the fifth form I would not call myself an Artist but I am a happy amateur
As you will see I love to explore lots of different mediums and I am currently giving oils a try , which I thought was scary and I'd never tried before. For anyone who knows me waiting for them to dry before adding more is quite a challenge but a good one!
During Covid, my daughter set me up a small Facebook page called "forget me not designs by sue wyke"and I started painting with a view to making bespoke watercolour cards. ;My page was not set up for sales it was somewhere to show my work . I like the page to be interactive and enjoy constructive comments and suggestions, it's how I learn. However I am still happy to sell any of my work to friends and followers
If they see something they like .
I love to use lots of beautiful bright colours and I especially like the artist Gustav Klimt and the colours and patterns that he uses but I don't think I really have a particular style or if I have it changes frequently.
Since joining SAG I have met some really talented artists and I have enjoyed the advice, support and friendship that this group offers
I've especially enjoyed the Saturday workshops which give a great insight to many different techniques I think this helps to fuel my passion for trying something new and trying different styles.
